Just held our second Cub camp at beautiful Camp Timken. We had invited two other Chatha-Kent Cub packs to join us. We absolutely love your camp. We plan on making Timken our annual year end camp. Scouter Norm was every informative, we enjoyed your company both years. The London Astronomy club was amazing and very helpful with our astronomy badge work. Thank you again for making us welcome in your home. Chatham #4 Cubs.
Just got home after spending a delightful weekend at Camp Timken with our Cub pack (#4 Chatham). It was love at first sight. Even with the rain we had lots of adventures. We plan on returning many more times and hope we can convince our Scouts to visit your wonderland in the near furure. We did have one of the scout leaders quartermaster for us and I'm sure he will win them over.
Called up the web site, as I was thinking of Scouter Larry. My understanding is he was a big part of Camp Timken. Therefore he will be missed, but not forgotten.
I was a member of the 18th troop through until about 1980/81 when I finished with the Venturers. I had heard about the troubles with Camp Timken, but am glad to see that things may have turned out for the better. I remember we used to go to Pearce Williams to camp and were so happy and proud to have a camp of our own. We spent many wonderful weekends there putting our signature on it with great people like Ken Fogel, Laurie Beavis and so many others and the experiences taught me a lot, like don't use the water you boiled the macaroni in to make powdered milk for your Kraft dinner. My own son has just recently started Beavers in Dunnville and I'm hoping that he enjoys it as much as I did, but even more that he develops the ties and friendships that I was given the chance to. Congratulations to you Elgin in your fight to keep the camp and I truly hope that it will be there for many more years for all the upcoming children to enjoy and learn from.
